Coping with menopause and anxiety – how Within Eve can help

Anxiety is a serious condition which 60% people in the UK say has interfered with their lives in the past two weeks. Coping with menopause and anxiety involves a combination of strategies and practices.

Anxiety is when we have a sense that something terrible is about to happen, when we are tense and simply unable to relax. We can feel irritable and tired, and may even have an increased heart rate as we worry about the future. Worrying can have a negative impact on our everyday life. It can feel like the end of the world.

Helping to manage anxiety

So to help, here are 5 steps you can take to help to promote your mental well-being and manage anxiety.

1. Monitor your hormones

As women enter the perimenopausal and menopausal phase of their lives, changing levels of hormones can affect mental health. Could your hormones and cycle be affecting your mental wellbeing? The perimenopause can begin in your 30s and is a period of change as our bodies prepare for the menopause.

If you join the Within Eve lifecycle trial then you can learn more about your body, cycle and needs to ensure you have the best chance of managing your anxiety. Find out more about our special offer here.

2. Breathing exercises

Breathing exercises can help bring your stress levels down. It’s recommended that you do this every day as part of your morning routine. You can do them anywhere – sitting, standing or on a yoga mat.

Breath in through your nose, and then count to five slowly. Then, release the air through your mouth, again slowly whilst counting to five. Repeat for five minutes.

3. Physical activity

Regular physical activity releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. Regular exercise can reduce stress and anxiety over time. Finding the right sort of exercise is important, be it gentle walks in the countryside to high-impact cardio at the gym. Within Eve can help direct you to what works best for you.

4. Balanced diet

A healthy, balanced diet is crucial for good mental health. Plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains ar good for the body and mind. Our body sensor, which attaches to your upper arm, detects glucose levels meaning you can track your energy levels after every meal and snack. Sign up to our trial offer today to find out more about how this can help with your anxiety levels.

5. Just talk

Talking about our anxiety and worries can often help ease the symptoms. This could be with friends and family. If you would prefer, then talking about anxiety during a Within Eve 1 to 1 session can help.
